Turkey's crude steel production drops in Oct y-o-y

According to the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), in October, Turkey's crude steel production dropped by 17.8% year on year to 2.9 million tons. The output totaled 30.2 million tons in the first ten months, a year-on-year decrease of 10.1%.
Turkey's steel exports in October were 1.1 million tons, falling by 42.3% from the same month a year ago. Meanwhile, the export value plunged by 51.3% year on year to about US$854 million. At the same time, the steel imports were 1.2 million tons, increasing by 11.6% compared with the same month of last year. However, the import value decreased by 9.9% year on year to US$1.1 billion.
TCUD indicated that because of high energy costs, Turkey’s steel production kept reducing. Also, steel consumption in the EU market decreased, so Turkey's steel exports in October to the EU fell by 25% year on year.
