China’s crude stainless steel production decreases in Q1-Q3 y-o-y

According to statistics, China’s crude stainless steel production totaled around 23.63 million tons in the first three quarters of this year, sliding by 5.22% compared to the same period a year ago. Meanwhile, the apparent consumption was 20.29 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.97%.
During the period, the output of Cr-Ni stainless steel (300 series) accounted for the largest proportion, totaling around 11.97 million tons, a year-on-year drop of 1.97%, and its share rose by 1.68% year on year to 50.63%.
In the first three quarters of this year, China’s imports of stainless steel products, excluding stainless steel scrap, totaled 2.44 million tons, up by 13.4% year on year. Approximately 2.06 million tons were from Indonesia, a year-on-year hike of 27.4%.
In terms of exports, China exported 3.46 million tons of stainless steel in the first three quarters of this year, growing by 4.79% year on year, with a net export volume of 1.02 million tons.
