Maersk: Problem of port congestion still not easy to solve

Maersk just hit its highest quarterly profit in 117 years and there is no end in sight to the global supply chain crisis. So far, it seems impossible to unload the cargo as quickly as hoped.
Maersk's operating profit rose nearly fourfold to US$5.9 billion in the third quarter, more than in any year since 2014. Surging demand after the initial shock of COVID-19 has led to a jump in containerized shipping rates, while labor shortages at some ports have delayed the unloading of cargo.
The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, two of America's busiest, announced on November 1 that they would levy surcharges on two types of imported containers parked at their terminals.
