Indonesian Nickel Miners Association supports restrictions on ferronickel & nickel pig iron exports

Meidy Katrin Lengkey, Secretary General of the Indonesian Nickel Miners Association (APNI) said on Monday (June 28) that the association supported the government’s plan to restrict the construction of ferronickel and nickel pig iron smelters.
Besides, the association also proposed a restriction on the exports of ferronickel and nickel pig iron and hoped the government could ensure 30%-50% of the supply for the domestic industries.
The Indonesian government is preparing for the policies, but it still allowed investors to invest in end products of nickel, such as stainless steel, batteries, and electric vehicles.
