LME nickel price sharply rises on Feb 19

The three-month futures price of nickel on the London Metal Exchange (LME) soared by US$502/ton last Friday (February 19), closing at US$19,650/ton, and the spot price also surged by US$452/ton to US$19,565.5/ton.
The current average nickel price of this month has reached US$18,371/ton, higher than the US$17,863/ton in the previous month.
According to market participants, due to an approaching tropical cyclone toward the Philippines during the rainy season, the nickel supply was in concern among the market. Besides, the weaker US dollar and the good demand for new energy vehicles will benefit the nickel price to continue the stable trend in near future.
