China and South Korea show interest in investing in Indonesia's nickel resources

According to Indonesian authorities, they are focusing on the mining industry, especially nickel mines, in order to open a clear path for them to establish their own battery industry in the future. This measure is favored by foreign investors.
China's two largest lithium battery manufacturers for electric vehicles, China's Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL) and South Korea's LG Chem, have already expressed their interest in this $20 billion investment project.
