In the light of the report, United Steelworkers (USW) said there was nothing on the order books after November at their Evraz steel mill at Regina of 500 workers there.
A layoff will most likely come in December, affecting more than half of USW’s employees at the mill and losing a significant number of workforce.
It was expected that not only will their tubular division start to lay off employees, but also the pipe coating mill at the EVRAZ Wasco Pipe Protection Corp.
