According to the World Stainless Steel Association, the global output of stainless steel melt workshops rose to 31.9 million tons in the first half of 2025, an increase of 5% compared with the same period of the previous year. This growth was particularly strong in the second quarter, increasing by 5.0% quarter-on-quarter and 3.1% year-on-year, reaching 16.36 million tons.
U.S. output rose 1.1% month-on-month and 7.8% year-on-year to 559,000 tons. Meanwhile, the output of China and other Asian regions also increased by 3.9% and 4.1% respectively year-on-year, reaching 10.54 million tons and 3.49 million tons. In contrast, the output of stainless steel in Europe decreased by 5.1% year-on-year to 1.54 million tons. This overall growth continues the trend since 2024, when global annual output increased by 7%.
