The UK's Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) announced that it proposed to keep anti-dumping (AD) and countervailing duty (CVD) measures on organic coated steel imports from China and maintain the measures for five years till May 4, 2029.
According to its Statements of Essential Facts, the TRA found that revoking the AD and CVD measures would likely lead to dumping and subsidization of the subject products, which may cause injury to the domestic industry.
Those measures have kept imports of products from China lower than 1,000 tons since 2013. Tata Steel UK is the only organic coated steel maker in the UK, and its yearly revenue, including sales of organic coated steel, was around £222 million.
The current AD duty rate on organic coated steel imports from China is 5.9% to 26.1%, and the CVD rate is 13.7% to 44.7%, based on different exporters.
