Worldsteel: Global crude steel production falls in Sep y-o-y
According to statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global crude steel production totaled 143.6 million tons in September, falling by 4.7% compared to the same month a year ago.

Among them, Asia's crude steel production reached 105 million tons, dropping by 5% year on year, of which China's output accounted for around 77 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 6%. The crude steel production from 27 EU countries was 10.5 million tons, slightly hiking by 0.3% year on year. The CIS countries produced nearly 7 million tons, down by 7.6% year on year.

During the period, North American crude steel output was roughly 9 million tons, sliding by 3.4% year on year; South American output was 3.5 million tons, going up by 3.3% year on year.

Crude steel production in Africa was up by 2.6% year on year to nearly 2 million tons, and the output in the Middle East fell by 23% year on year to 3.5 million tons.

In the first nine months of this year, global crude steel production amounted to 1.39 billion tons, dropping by 2% compared to the prior-year period.
